Our Educational Concept

Educational concept elmar

In the KiTa we work with the dual educational concept known as elmar.

This wide and varied concept supports the children in two ways. It enables the children to learn actively during group activities, which are offered daily as a part of ongoing educational projects. And it also ensures the individual development of each child, supporting their learning processes through challenging activities.

elmar is short for “elementary” and indicates an educational concept which is designed for the Early Years (children under 6 years) and which stimulates and supports learning in this age group.
elmar was designed for our Swiss Daycare system and was developed by experienced Heads of Daycare.

If you are interested in this educational concept, you can find further information at www.bildungskonzept-elmar.ch

Bilingual

Multilingualism is a key for the future.

The database was set up from 0 – 7 years and is a lifelong disposal (hard drive).

They develop a different learning strategy, transferring a much easier and simpler learning process, into other areas such as languages, mathematics etc.

Babies bring this potential with them by birth to learn many languages worldwide.

Small children have a great interest in languages and are particularly encouraged to learn them.

The child’s ear is “hungry” for phonetic sounds (nonsense words, lutes etc.). Especially at this age they are open to a wide variety of tones and sounds.

(The brain has a lot of space for many languages Prof. Gundula List).

What do we offer

The child experience in our kita is a caregiver, who speaks their mother tongue. The children are able to learn language in a natural way just by listening.

Every day we create specific situations for voice work, for example in english and swiss german in the form of games, songs, poems, finger plays, stories, picture books etc.

It is important that the children learn the language in a playful, positive and emotional atmosphere.

SMILE-Method:

  • Fun with the foreign language
  • Reminding through music, movement rhythm and rhyme
  • Intelligence support
  • Learning with all senses
  • Involvement in everyday kita life
